  • Health test results
    Vappu (Iosono Fantasia) was eye tested. In her other eye was found a single vitreous strand so Vappu got vitreous degeneration diagnosis. Otherwise the eyes were clear.





  • Tervakoski international show 29.8.2009
    Four Cirnecos participated in this show to be judged under Jukka Kuusisto. My Tosca (Iosono Diamante) had just turned 2 years old so this was the first possible show to try to gain the Finnish Champion title. And Tosca did it being Best of Breed with CACIB! Now she is called Finnish Champion & Estonian & Latvian Junior Champion & Estonian Junior Winner 2008 & the World's Best Cirneco Temperament Iosono Diamante. Well, the last title is a humble opinion of her owner - but she is a real diamond to me! Tosca is lacking now only one foreign CACIB to become an International Champion but we have to wait until spring 2010 because of the FCI rules.

    I was also busy to handle Miki's son Timi (Canto di Natale dei Bresar's) who was in his first dog show and Ninja (Vespinja's Cara Mia Iosono). Timi was Best Male 2nd with CAC and res-CACIB and Ninja was Best Female 2 with res-CACIB. The best male & CACIB went to Frodo (Colisto's Armani).

  • The Finnish lure coursing championship 22.8.2009
    The most important lure coursing competition, the Finnish championship, was held in Middle Finland, in Jyväskylä. The results were the following:

      1. Vespinja's Cardamone 225 + 213 = 438 CAC SVKLMM-09
      2. Iosono Divina 219 + 217 = 436 CQ
      3. Vespinja's Azalea 193 + 214 = 407 CQ
      4. Vespinja's Carezza 199 + 142 = 341







  • The Finnish Sighthound Club's specialty show 15.8.2009
    Our young beauty Noia (Iosono Superiore) was BOB puppy and my Miki (Iosono Michelangelo) was shown first time in veteran classes. He was BOB veteran and in the finals BIS4 veteran!

  • Oulu double International Show 18th and 19th of July, 2009
    On Saturday 5 Cirnechi were entered for Jean Louis Grünheid. Tosca (Iosono Diamante) was BOB with CAC & CACIB. 10-year-old Vespina was BOB veteran and 2nd best bitch. Tiara (Iosono Dolce Vita) was Best bitch 3rd with res-CAC & res-CACIB. BOS went to Anharbn Yellow River.

    On Sunday we were already in Helsinki at our specialty show but Vespina was BOS & BOB veteran and Tiara (Iosono Dolce Vita) 2nd best bitch with CAC and CACIB under Piotr Krol. BOB was Anharbn Yellow River. Congratulations to Annikki & Terhi for the great results!

  • Hyvinkää national dog show 5.7.2009
    Unto Timonen judged 12 Italian Greyhounds in Hyvinkää and our Jemma (Iosono Fiamma) gained her 3rd certificate and she became Finnish Champion at first possible show! In Cirnechi Harto Stockmari judged the breed and Peppi (Iosono Deja Vu) was Best of Breed with certificate and Siri (Iosono Incredibile) was 2nd best female. In the group ring Mared Kärdi placed Peppi 3rd best in group!

  • Kokkola International Show 5.7.2009
    Vappu (Iosono Fantasia) was Best Female 3 with res-CAC and res-CACIB. Judge was Anette Erlander and there were 11 IGs.

  • SIC track racing championship competition, Helsinki 4.7.2009
    Roope (Iosono Romulus) and Ninja (Vespinja's Cara Mia Iosono) participated in Finnish Italian Greyhound & Cirneco dell'Etna Club's championship competition (350 m). Ninja won the first race but in the finals it was Roope's turn to win. Roope won his first track racing competition and got a new title, SICRM-09 (track racing winner of SIC).

  • Birthday congratulations
    Our first Italian Greyhound litter turned 2 years the 10th of June. Old ladies Jazi and Vespina are also celebrating their birthday: Jazi turned 12 years 15th of June and Vespina turns 10 years 18th of June. Congratulations and let's hope many more years! Our sincere thanks to Jazi's & Vespina's breeders for our grand old ladies!

  • Trip to Italy 7.6. - 15.6.
    We spent some great time around Italy (but we lost our baggage in our return trip, luckily we got them eventually back). The main purpose was to bring two Cirneco puppies to Finland but of course our trip was mainly a vacation. ;-) We travelled in Rome, Rimini, San Marino, Tuscany and Umbria. Also, we visited a dog show in Orvieto where we met our friends around the world. There were many Cirneco breeders there: me from Finland, Marco Belfiore (breeder of our puppies) & Giarrizzo (d'Oriseo) from Sicily, Roberto Nardini (Borgo di Pratica) from Rome, Tanya Butt (Colisto's) from Russia, Jerri Gates (d'Lea) from the USA and Jonathan Lappin (Eindackel) from Ireland.

    There were a double show in Orvieto during the weekend but we had time to go there only on Sunday as on Saturday we did some driving around San Marino & Tuscany. On Saturday the father of our G litter, Fiorino, won res-CACIB. Piriddu (who is a full brother of our new Cirneco puppies) was BOB and Fiorino's daughter Mariola was BOS. On Sunday the father of our S litter, Pablo del Gelso Bianco, (he arrived from Russia with Tanya) won BOS and Mariola was BOB. Congratulations Marco & Tanya for the great results! And thanks to Marco, Tanya, Jerri & Jonathan for the great company on Saturday & Sunday!

    We imported two puppies to Finland from Italy: Iigor (Iosono Ovo) and Ava (Agata dell'Ovo), DOB 10.4.2009. The breeders are our dear friends Laura Majorana & Marco Belfiore from Sicily. The parents are Pupa & Iris del Gelso Bianco. I met the parents and some relatives of Iigor & Ava when I was mating Ninja to Fiorino in Sicily in January. We, Saila-Annika & Pasi have waited Iigor almost for a year and finally our dream came true!!! Ava's owners are our close friends Senja & Sinikka Mäkinen who breed Lagotto Romagnolos (kennel Foogel). Thoussands of thanks to Marco & Laura for the puppies and all help & co-operation during the last year!

  • Kotka International show 14.6.2009
    Tosca (Iosono Diamante) was 2nd best female with res-CAC & res-CACIB under Unto Timonen. Thank you Noora for taking Tosca to the show while I was in Italy. And thanks to Noia's family Anniina & Valtteri for taking care of Miki & Tosca during my trip.





  • Salo national show 7.6.2009
    Jemma (Iosono Fiamma) was Best Female 1 with CAC. You seldom hope to loose in BOB & BOS ring but this time I hoped so much to get BOS because I was in a hurry to get to the airport. And luckily the judge gave us BOS rosette! BOB rosette went to Pikkuneidin Timi Nero who became champion, congratulations Kitte! The judge was Andreja Novak and there were 10 Italian Greyhounds.

  • S litter puppy meeting
    The whole S litter (Capo, Cara, Maiko & Noia) met first time with their owners after the delivery day. Also Miki & Tosca joined the day. We had really fun, we ate Italian food & wine in Italian style and the dogs played together. Thank you Hanne & Tuomas, Kaisa & Risto, Elina and Anniina for the great day! Next year again?

  • Ceres moved to Sweden
    The only female baby from Ninja's & Fiorino's litter moved to Sweden. Good luck Magda & Stefan with Ceres (Iosono Galassia). Ceres shares the house with her "oncle" Platon (Iosono Remus). Ceres is co-owned by us so she will hopefully be seen also here in Finland.

  • Helsinki International Dog Show 23.-24.5.2009
    The weekend was full of different events but here are the dog things: On Saturday we were at Helsinki INT show with Aino (Iosono Figlia di Ida) who had had a long break from the shows (almost a year). Aino did well, she got excellent and she was placed among the 5 best females.

    On Sunday we showed Peppi (Iosono Dolce Vita) who was in her first official show. Out of two Cirnechi Peppi was BOB with CAC & CACIB. Now all five girls from our D litter are CAC-winners!

  • Rauma National Show 23.5.2009
    While we were in Helsinki Mia showed Siri (Iosono Incredibile) first time after her maternity leave. Also here were presented two Cirnechi and the judge Elina Haapaniemi liked Siri and placed her BOB.

    Dina (Iosono Divina) participated in her first lure coursing competition. What a debyt as Dina won the breed with CAC and she was Best in Field 2!

  • Socialization of the puppies
    Before our puppies leave to their new homes we always do a lot of socialization. Now we visited one of Finland's biggest shopping malls with the puppies and all of the puppies were so brave.

  • Lure coursing competition 9.5.2009
    This is the annual competition where only the best lure coursers are invited. Our gang gained three invitations to Ninja (Vespinja's Cara Mia Iosono) who was the best lure courser 2008 of every possible list, Elmo (Iosono Qualitativo) and Roope (Iosono Romulus). Ninja couldn't participate because of her maternity leave but Elmo & Roope participated.

  • Unofficial lure coursing competition 3.5.2009
    Vappu (Iosono Fantasia) participated in unofficial lure coursing competition. She was placed 2nd out of 30 competitors of different breeds with excellent points 266. Vappu was also officially measured: 34,2 cm.

  • Health results
    Tosca's (Iosono Diamante) hips & knees were x-rayed because of agility. Hips were A/A and knees 0/0 (best possible quality). Her eyes & patellas will be checked later.

    Unfortunately there are not many breeders and owners who do health testing, especially outside of Finland & USA. The Finnish Italian Greyhound & Cirneco dell'Etna Club recommends that every single dog used for breeding are health checked at least by their eyes & patellas. Many thanks to Finnish breeders & owners who do testing!

    In the Cirnechi (and also in Italian Greyhounds) there are some eye diseases found in Finland and as we all share the same blood lines around the world, there are surely more eye problems around the world. Also some patella luxation cases have been found. I really recommend all breeders & owners (even the owners of "pet dogs") who read this that you would do official health testing to your dogs so that our breed will have a bright & healthy future!

  • Agility results 15.4. ja 21.4.
    While we had some break from our agility trainings we participated in two unofficial agility competitions with Tosca (Iosono Diamante). In the first competition our placement was 5th with one refusal. In our second competition our placement was even better, the 3rd, this time with one refusal, too. We are so happy with our success!

  • Stockholm international dog show 12.4.2009
    Last summer at World Dog Show in Stockholm we decided with Platon's (Iosono Remus) owners Magda & Stefan that Platon should be shown in future. Finally now in Easter there was a dog show in Stockholm in Sweden and Inka decided that this would be THE show for Platon's debyt. Inka took Tosca (Iosono Diamante) with her and travelled to Stockholm with her friend Senja & Senja's two Lagotto Romagnolos. There were four Cirnechi shown for Polish judge Elzbieta Chwalibog. Platon did well, he was Best Male with CAC & CACIB. Tosca managed to win Best Female, CAC & CACIB and she was finally BOB. Miki's daughter Sicilly (Cicciolina dei Bresars) was also shown and she was Best female 2 with reserve-CACIB. It was really nice to meet her and I always enjoy to see our "grand children" even though they are not bred by us.

    Thank you Magda & Stefan for company at the show and the lovely dinner at your home afterwards! Also I want to thank Senja for the best possible company during the trip and congratulations on Sebastian's Swedish Champion title!

  • Ninja top cirneco in many fields!
    Ninja (Vespinja's Cara Mia Iosono) was awarded as the most winning lure coursing Cirneco by the Finnish Italian Greyhound & Cirneco dell'Etna Club AND Helsinki Sighthound Club. Helsinki Sighthound Club also awarded Ninja as the most winning show cirneco 2008 & most winning track racer 2008. Ninja is our multi-talented girl! Thank you Kenneth & Erika for training & keeping her so well.





  • Agility
    Tosca (Iosono Diamante) and Inka ended their agility course well: there was a competition (level 1) between the course participants and Tosca and Inka won the competition! In Helsinki it is very difficult to get a place in agility team but Inka & Tosca managed to join one and from now on they are training at Itä-Helsingin Agilityharrastajat (I-HAH) team!







  • Ninja's puppies were born 24.3.2009!
    Ninja's (Vespinja's Cara Mia Iosono) puppies were born: 1 female & 4 males. All of the puppies have already been reserved. Thank you Marco for everything!







  • Tampere International Show
    This Tampere weekend gave us a lot of driving around the Southern Finland (over 800 km). On Saturday the Cirnechi were judged (10 were entered but only 8 were shown): Miki's two boys Bati (Colisto's Battisto) and Vincent (Corrado Soprano dei Bresars) were shown for first time in Junior Class: Bati gained Best Male with CAC and Vincent got very good this time. In females Stella (Iosono Quintessenza) got the jackbot and she won Best Female with CACIB and she was finally BOB. Tosca (Iosono Diamante) was Best Female 3rd with res-CAC & res-CACIB as the Junior bitch took CAC. Tosca's sister Dina (Iosono Divina) got very good this time. Congratulations Saila-Annika & Pasi for Stella's win and also lots of congratulations to Bati's owner Eini & breeder Tanya in Moscow!

    After the show me and Tosca went to play with Tosca's sister Peppi (Iosono Deja Vu) and her roommate Lara (Iosono Ifigeneia). Or actually it was Tosca who played and not me. The dogs had fun.

    On Sunday back to Tampere, this time our car was full of Italian Greyhound owners and Italian Greyhounds. Waltraud Peschges (kennel vom Sausewind) judged 25 Italian Greyhounds and our Jemma (Iosono Fiamma) won Intermediate Class and she was 4th best female!

  • One week's trip to Sicily
    A visit to Sicily had been a dream of mine for many years. Even though I had lived in Italy and visited the country many times, I had never before travelled to Sicily. Finally I made my dream real and travelled to Sicily to the roots of the Cirnechi. Thank you Marco, Laura & Pucci for everything!

  • Our puppies were born
    The puppies of Siri & Alex saw the daylight the 15th of January, 2009. Four puppies were born in this order: girl (Jelena), boy (Pikkuputin), girl (Nadja) and girl (Olga). The puppies got Russian call names because their father Alex lives in Russia. Siri & the puppies are doing fine. All of the puppies have been reserved.
